Wednesday September 1, 2010
10:00 AM
VA Hospital/Teague Building Lobby
Art work was presented as an exhibit in the lobby before being taken
up to the 5th and 6th floors where they will remain. The residents were
very appreciative and offered their opinions about where to display.
Some of the floors were decorated by themes:
5th floor – Theme: Heroes
Multipurpose area, entertainment, dining, social gatherings
Art style – variety
6th floor – One area had the Seascapes.
Some of the décor featured shells, fish, netting, fishing gear,
lighthouses, and ships.
Completed puzzles are displayed on tables
Along the walkway are models of tanks, aircraft, and vehicles that are
relative to the memories of the
residents
One request was to see more of the military unit seals or emblems, (no
specific era was given)
On the other end of the 6th floor, the theme was Western art and the
Chisolm Trail. Decorations
Included long horns, cow skulls, hat, boot, poppies, and rope styled
lettering. The pictures on the
wall were of landscapes.
As you walk into the lobby, veteran Larry, is seated between the news
stand and the coffee maker where he offers you a hot cup of coffee. The
aroma is hard to resist.
Enjoyable morning, met some amazing folks, and special appreciation
and thanks to Angela and Jutta.
More tiles were picked up, and will go to Marty so he can prime them.
