| Ursula M Adam, a native of Puerto Rico,
was born into a military family. She has traveled
extensively throughout Europe and the United States. In
1981, after she and her family moved to Fort Hood, Texas
from an assignment in Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, she was
able to realize one of her fondest dreams. During her
world travels she had always admired the stained glass
found in the European churches and cathedrals. It was her
dream to one day be able to learn the ancient craft of
making the same stained glass windows that she had
admired so much. |
| Her dream started to become reality when
she was able to participate in classes sponsored by the
crafts center at Fort Hood. After having taken just a few
classes, accompanied by her daughter, Dianne, she was
more convinced than ever that this was her vocation. |

Through the expert guidance of her instructor, Mr.
Ted Kolodziej, himself a world-renowned artist, she was
soon producing excellent work with a glass cutter and her
soldering iron. One of Ursula's first major commissions
was for one of the Killeen churches. There she designed
twelve stained glass panels to be hung in the sanctuary
of the church, each panel representing one of the twelve
Apostles. Another commission for a church quickly
followed this work in Florence, Texas where she designed,
crafted and installed a total of 14 windows, each 4-foot
wide and 6 feet tall. |
Her work has been shown at craft
shows throughout central Texas and is in high demand. She
ships her works around the world to supply her many
military clients
Ursula has established her studio in the two-car
garage of her home in Killeen. She makes each piece as if
it were to hang in her own home, and many of them do at
one time or another. Each piece is crafted with her
special attention to detail, lots of love and patience to
make each small piece of glass as perfect as possible.
Her standards are exacting. If a piece is not perfect,
the client will never see it. |
