These murals were painted in the meditation room of a new business in Harker Heights Texas, called The Sisters of The Earth and Sea. Circa Dec. 2004. You can buy art prints, crystals and stones, figurines, books and much more there. The murals were painted with interior wall paints and highlighted with airbrush acrylics. The project took about a week to complete.

Folks say, you should 'paint what you know', so, having spent
a lot of time, with my head in the clouds, I enjoy painting them, especially when I get to hook up my airbrush.

This
custom flame job was produced with the help of Compete Paint and Body, in
Killeen. Circa Nov.2004. When I was 18-20, my brother Richard and I took
jobs as airbrush artists for a custom van shop. We learned about auto
paints and custom techniques, of the time. We got our airbrush artwork in
several cycle and truck magazines. I got out of auto paint, to finish my
BFA in Art at UMHB. Fast Forward, 25 years: Recently, I've learned of the
incredible improvements of the auto paint capabilities of today. Last
year, I painted several custom motorcycles at several Central Texas paint
shops. PS. I think I'm allergic to sanding ! It's still pretty cool to see
your artwork pass you on the highway !

Here
are before and after shots of the front of a fiberglass body for a Belton,
TX. dragster. I had to actually look for a real Avenger, in order to take
photos of what the light fixtures looked like, so I could paint them
realistically. I used auto paint products and a fast drying clear, in
between the 3 levels of paint. Custom paint is all about levels. Airbrush
is considered 'paint dust', so in order not to lose a special effect, you
clear as you go, lightly sanding in between each 'level'. This paint job
will be featured in an upcoming car magazine. I'll be adding silver leaf
lettering soon, as the owner wants to name the car, 'The Grey Ghost.' |

These
murals were done in interior wall paints, highlighted with Createx
acrylics. Circa 2003. The model in these photos was also a former painters
helper of mine, Summer. On larger projects, such as these, I try to hire
area help. I call them,' fill in' artists, who allow me to do detail work,
on another wall. |

The
nice thing about this project is that I'm allowed to add plants and foliage
whenever I can. |
