“I have enjoyed traveling all over the world painting and doing potting.” Joy Simon

" I was born poor, lived in the street and died of consumption at an early age. So my paintings should be worth a LOT- just kidding- I'm still alive." - Joy Simon
Ms. Simon has many awards to her credit which is evident when viewing her work, her composition and color allow the viewer to become lost in her art. With a wide range of color and texture her work speaks volumes.

I always wanted to dive but was too afraid of the water and what is in it so this is a close as I get.

Watch the mud slide. Goodbye to a lot of memories.

We had a tropical storm in Daytona Beach, Florida- the sky was so colorful. I painted this from my upstairs studio where I was living at the edge of the water- it was a breathtaking view.

I was thinking of all the coal miners in Utah, where I was born, and it just came out of the memories of my early days.   This is my prize. I look at this and can not see how I painted it. I marvel every time I see it... very ethereal. This one has received 5 ribbons, Best Of Show at La Jolla Art Association of La Jolla, California and then every show I put it in it has placed.   My favorite! There is nothing like the sunset over the crest of the mountain. I love trees and cracks- many layers of colors which I love to blend together. This one received Best Of Show.
Going along U.S. Highway 101 in California- looking down across the rocks with the wind and the waves smashing on the rocks inspired many paintings. If you have ever traveled U.S. Highway 101 you can't forget it forget what you see.
I have been very lucky with all my art. When most people see it they think a man did it as they feel it is so bold.  My paintings from the route all have won prizes from Best Of Show to Honorable Mention.

I just wondered where I went. I was a ballerina and missed going to San Francisco Ballet (got married so sad) mistake one. The card is my senior prom and the flowers are from my corsage. The castle is a dream far away- I always was a dreamer.   Self explanatory.
My husband always thought so.

These were of the real people, I would take photos of them and paint from the photograph. I ask $100.00 then. Once a star stole a picture and I had a terrible time getting it back from her. Since then I make sure I am at the end of the show to get them. I also did scenery painting and worked back stage. I did the playbills for the "Little Theatre" Daytona Beach . I was just starting out doing this and I enjoyed it a lot. When I did CATS it brought back memories of a good and wonderful time in my life.

I loved it so much had to paint two. This was a time when my pictures kept getting bigger and bigger. I needed more space to throw the paint around.
