During these travels she has had many opportunities for studies including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Boston Massachusetts and studies including in drawing, ceramics and jewelry at Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas.
Her vast productions include landscapes, sea scapes, floral and human and pet portraits. Joan's other artistic projects involve designing and creating jewelry and using a new media, clay, in designing vessels and art objects.	For fourteen years she was the owner and manager of Drafting and Production Service in Copperas Cove, Texas. During that time she was involved in the expansion of Darnell Army Community Hospital and construction of the head quarters for the Second Armored Division both at Fort Hood, Texas. Her expertise in plans was the reason she was recommended to participate in the construction of the United States Treasury Federal Mint in Dallas Texas. Since arriving in Central Texas in 1976 Joan became an active member in the local communities. While her husband was on active duty with the United States Army, she held several positions with the Officers Wives Club at Fort Hood, Texas. She has been a member of the Killeen Civic Art Guild since 1976 serving as President for eight years. She is also a member of the Board of Directors and the coordinator of exhibits, Vive Les Arts Theatre, Killeen, Texas. In Copperas Cove, Texas she is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Military Officers Committee. She is also a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club. Joan has competed in shows in this country and in Europe receiving awards on both continents. Her works are part of private collections in the United States and Europe. Joan retired from her business in May 1995 to devote more time to her studies and artistic Creations. Her paintings are presented in several media- oils, watercolor, pastel and charcoal- exhibiting styles of color impressionism, loose form and graceful lines.
She sums up her reason for painting- "to record happy memories"
